DUI suspect arrested after chase from Huntington Beach to Long Beach

A man was arrested of suspicion of driving under the influence after a brief police chase that started at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday near Pacific Coast Highway and Newland Street in Huntington Beach, police said.

A man suspected of driving while intoxicated was arrested Tuesday evening after a brief police chase from Huntington Beach to Long Beach.

The chase started at about 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Newland Street, according to Lt. Kevin Johnson of the Huntington Beach Police Department.

Officers stopped the vehicle with a PIT maneuver near Bryant and Anaheim roads in Long Beach, Johnson said.

Neither the suspect nor any officers were injured during the chase, Johnson said.

According to the Huntington Beach Police Department arrest log, Joseph Meneghini, 41, of Long Beach was arrested at 6:42 p.m. on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and evading a peace officer with wanton disregard for safety.
