Body found in Huntington Beach, authorities investigating death as suspicious

A body was discovered by a local resident in the oil fields southwest of Talbert Avenue and Edwards Street.

The resident reported discovering the body to Huntington Beach police at 5:37 p.m. on Monday and investigators located the decomposing remains of what appeared to be an adult male. Property believed to belong to the decedent was also found.

Detectives are investigating the cause of death, which remains unknown. Police said that because of that, they are treating the death as suspicious. Lt. Brian Smith of the Huntington Beach Police Department said Wednesday an autopsy was being performed.
