ON THE AGENDA
Here are some of the items the board of trustees will be
discussing tonight.
FISCAL REPORT
Assistant Supt. of Business Services Paul Reed will present the
board with the 2003-04 second period interim report. This item was
held from the previous meeting.
WHAT TO EXPECT
State law requires school districts to file interim reports twice
each fiscal year. The first covers the financial and budgetary status
of the district through the end of October. This one will cover the
period ending Jan. 31.
Based on current information, Reed wrote in his report to the
board, the district meets the state’s standards and criteria for
fiscal stability and should continue to though the end of the school
year.
NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION
Three Newport-Mesa teachers passed exams to become National Board
Certified teachers.
The assessment process includes a classroom-based portfolio and a
set of exams and exercises organized around student work and
standards-based teaching. The National Board for Professional
Teaching Standards, created in 1987, gives the certification.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Michelle Hanscom from College Park Elementary, Amy Hocker from
Newport Heights Elementary and Chandra Prough from Newport Coast
Elementary were named National Board Certified Teachers and will be
recognized before the meeting.
