An acclaimed hand surgeon has left the UCLA Hand Center to join the UCI Healthcare Center for Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery, officials said Tuesday.
Neil Jones spent 15 years as the Hand Center’s director and a professor of orthopedic surgery.
The UCI center will work with injuries to the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder, as well as chronic problems such as carpal tunnel syndrome and arthritis.
Jones will head up hand-surgery and microsurgery services at the center, while Dr. Ranjan Gupta will take on shoulder surgery, and another doctor is being recruited to manage elbow treatment.
Jones specializes in nerve problems, tendon injuries and transfers, arthritis, and children’s hand deformities.
