First Balboa Island Canines and Felines Calendar published

BALBOA ISLAND CANINES AND FELINES CALENDAR 2009 makes a great holiday gift that will have local dogs and cats thanking you from the tips of their wagging tails!

The first-ever Balboa Island dog and cat calendar featuring humorous photos of island pets was published last week by Patsy Metcalf, a local realtor on Balboa Island, with help from her friend, Nick Ut.

Nick Ut is a photographer for the Associated Press who works out of Los Angeles. His best known photo is the Pulitzer Prize-winning picture of Kim Phuc, who was photographed as a naked 9-year-old girl running toward the camera to flee a South Vietnamese napalm attack during the Vietnam War.

The calendar is in memoriam to Mr. Robert Bernard and his beloved schnauzer. Patsy thought it would be a nice way to say goodbye to the long time resident who passed away a few weeks after his beloved Cella passed. Condolences go out to his family and friends and Balboa Island residents.

This calendar was selling for $16, with a portion of the profits after taxes being donated to Renee Carleton’s Pet Food Bank and the Orange County Friends Committee of Guide Dogs for the Blind. It is now on sale for $10.00. For more information, please visit www.balboaislanddogsncats.com. The calendar is available for sale in most shops on Marine Avenue.
