Jr. Midget Seahawks Crush Garden Grove Falcons

As the season winds down to an end, the Newport Mesa Seahawks, are still improving. Last Saturday, 10/24, the Seahawks traveles to Garden Grove. They knocked down the Falcons 22-14. The Seahawks bench had many injuries this past few weeks, but they still pulled it together to win. The offense backfield, led by Chase Forrest, quarterback, fought hard to score points and to drive the ball down the field. Running backs Ryan Taormina, Jake Favreau, Ricky Zak, established a very dominating running game while wide recievers Adam Davis, Cole Chapin, Spencer Lujan, and Jack Menzia were off to the races with many receptions each. Given ample time from the offensive line Colin Duffy, Timmy Strader, Blake Bauer, Grant Moore, and Nick Landstrom, Chase Forrest could easily make his decision on where to take the play. The score would have been much greater if it weren’t for penalties, but a win is a win.

The defense stopped Garden Grove’s wildcat and power offense. Led by linebackers Jordan Binder, Grant Moore, and Chase Forrest, the defense shutdown the Falcon’s inside run game. The defensive line Christian Rice, Kent Ham, Blake Henson, and Adam Davis, gave the Falcon running backs no choice but to bounce outside where they were soon tackled by the corners Matthew “Chewy” Deverian, Cory Stowell, the free safety Alex Moore, or the outside linebackers Charlie Griffin, Cole Martin, and Ryan Taormina.

Although this weeks win was very important to the seeding in the playoffs, (the Seahawks are guaranteed at least a 3rd place seed), next week’s game against the #1 Carson Colts could decide whether or not the Seahawks could get 1st or 2nd. The Seahawks will have to fight, but by what they have done so far, they have proven they’ve got what it takes.
