Trailer mishap leads to gas line break

Eleven homes were evacuated from the 20000 block of Stans Lane at 11:27 a.m. Sunday after a gas main was damaged by a runaway vehicle, Callus said.

The incident occurred when a man was moving a trailered boat using a Ford Explorer. When the trailer began rolling away, the driver got out to stop it, but forgot to put the Explorer into park, so it rolled into a gas main.

The gas line was shut off and the residents were allowed to return to their homes at 12:52 p.m., according to police records.
