Rosansky leaves race for clerk’s job

Newport Beach Councilman Steve Rosansky is bowing out of the race for Orange County Clerk-Recorder Tom Daly’s seat, Rosansky said Friday.

He had filed preliminary paperwork to run for the clerk-recorder position in November, after Daly announced plans to run for county supervisor. But Daly said Friday that he is dropping out of that race and will seek reelection.

“There’s no point now. I’m not looking to run against an incumbent,” Rosansky said.

The clerk-recorder maintains county property records, and birth, death and marriage certificates. Rosansky, who has three years left in his term on the City Council, said that even if he had won the clerk-recorder seat, he would have stayed on the council to finish out his term.
