Two men accused of trying to stab a man to death a man while robbing him of $50 in May had their arraignment rescheduled for Aug. 16, court records show.

Maximiliano Bahena Jr., 20, of Orange, and Frank Rocha, 19, of Garden Grove, are charged with attempted murder and robbery for the May 27 attack on a man as he left the bars on the Balboa Peninsula.

The two men jumped the man as he walked home, kicking and punching him to the ground and stabbing him six times as they stole his wallet, police said.

They were arrested in Fullerton after police found them with a loaded gun. They were eventually released but property found on them during that arrest eventually linked them to the Newport Beach robbery, police said.

The men are being held in lieu of more than $1 million bail.
