CdM walks away with grand prize

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Corona del Mar High School students strutted their stuff Friday at a national fashion competition and walked away with $25,000.

CdM won the grand prize at Hurley’s fourth annual Walk the Walk, a national competition that pitted six high schools against each other for a five-minute “Project Runway”-esque competition.

CdM beat out students from Hawaii, Virginia, New Jersey and nearby Huntington Beach High School. The finals were held near the Huntington Beach Pier.

This is the first year the competition has been opened nationally, and schools had to qualify for a spot by region with three rounds of video challenges before the final fashion show competition. CdM didn’t get enough votes in the video challenges, but qualified as a wild card pick in the fashion show.
