Department waiting until Tuesday to announce fairgrounds winner

COSTA MESA — The California Department of General Services (DGS), which is in charge of selling the Orange County Fairgrounds, will not be releasing the names of those who offered bids to buy the 150-acre property until Tuesday, although the results were due Thursday, said Eric Lamoureux, a DGS spokesman.

Department staff need more time to determine who the winning bidder is before the names and offers can be released, Lamoureux said.

The state placed the fairgrounds up for sale for the second time after negotiations with the city of Costa Mesa hit a dead end.
