A Montana man was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole Friday for the 2006 murder of a former Denver disc jockey whose body was found floating off Catalina Island.

Harvey Morrow, 60, was sentenced for the first-degree murder of Steven Bailey Williams, 59, by a Long Beach Superior Court judge.

Morrow was convicted in November of fatally shooting Williams with special circumstances of murder for financial gain.

Morrow, who introduced himself as a retired investment banker, was managing Williams’ investments, including $1.8 million from the sale of Williams’ father’s Corona del Mar home.

Prosectors said Morrow stole money from Williams, including $1.8 million to refurbish his yacht.

Williams became suspicious and told friends he was going to confront Morrow.

Williams body was discovered floating six miles of Catalina Island with a gunshot to head only days after cell phone and GPS records placed both men on Morrow’s yacht.
