Judith Olson Bruno, 72, of Newport Beach, California passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 13, 2013 from complications related to stomach cancer.
Born October 26, 1940 in Gary, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Ruben and Lillian Olson. Judy attended Indiana University and then moved to Laguna Beach, California where she was an elementary school teacher. In 1966, she moved to Cheshire, Connecticut where she raised her family. Her love of the Pacific Coast eventually drew her back to California.
Judy was known for her creativity, listening ears, gift of gab, and corny jokes. She gave her love unconditionally to all of her family and friends. A devoted mother and adoring grandmother, Judy loved to spoil her grandchildren on birthdays and holidays. She was a voracious reader, tennis player, artist, writer, and a good friend. She claimed to have never been bored a day in her life.
Judy (“Gigi”) is survived by daughters Michelle (Mike) Bassi and Jennifer (Kirk) Hartley of Colorado; four grandchildren: Jake, Chiara, Alika and Jaxon; sister, Joyce (George) Middleton of Indiana; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and ex-husband, and friend, James Bruno, Jr. of Vermont.
A special thank you to her very close friends, Karen McMorris and Jerry Koch, who were incredibly supportive prior to and throughout her illness.
Judy’s love will live forever in our hearts.
A private memorial will be held in March. Friends and relatives may visit
