‘Everyday Heroes’ celebrate Patriots Day Parade in Laguna Beach

Laguna Beach didn’t let anything rain on its parade this year.
Last year’s Patriots Day Parade was canceled because of weather, but the city came out in red, white and blue on Saturday to celebrate this year’s edition. The march, featuring bands, equestrians, classic cars and floats, started at Laguna Beach High School and made its way past City Hall.
This year’s parade honored local “Everyday Heroes” — the parade’s theme — including Army veteran Arnold Silverman, who fought during the Korean War, and Sande St. John, who was recognized as Citizen of the Year for her volunteer work with several community organizations.
The grand marshal was longtime Laguna Beach journalist Barbara Diamond.
The Patriots Day Parade comes ahead of Patriots’ Day, which is in April.
