Second grandchild for Laguna resident

Debra Covern of Laguna Beach is proud to announce the birth of her second grandchild, Gavin James Cann. Gavin was born July 1 in La Jolla, and weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces.

Gavin is the second child for Nicole and David Cann, and joins big brother Wyatt Asher Cann, 1 1/2 . Covern says she could not be more excited.

Laguna woman is model finalist

The District at Tustin Legacy and Brand Model and Talent Agency have announced 29 finalists for Brand Model’s 2009 Model Search.

The final candidates were chosen from unsigned guys and girls ages 15 to 25 at the contest’s Open Call on Aug. 1, hosted at the District.

Among the finalists who will go on to compete in future events is Danielle Cudmore of Laguna Beach.

“We were extremely impressed by the enthusiasm of the young men and women who attended the Open Call,” said Patty Brand, owner of Brand Model and Talent Agency. “With a lineup of incredibly determined, talented finalists, the remaining modeling events will no doubt be full of energy, excitement and competition.”

The top contenders will vie for prizes including a one-year contract with Brand Model and Talent Agency, a full pictorial spread in 944 Magazine’s Fall Fashion Issue, a $500 Visa Gift Card from The District at Tustin Legacy, a photo session exceeding $500 in value with Joe Regan, and a one-year membership to L.A. Fitness.

The finalists competed in a runway exercise Wednesday, and the top 20 finalists will then take part in a live fashion show Saturday featuring clothes and accessories from The District at Tustin Legacy stores Tilly’s, Madison Bleu and Angelic Boutique.
