Beach service and picnic Sunday

Neighborhood Congregational Church will host a special worship celebration of song, dance, prayer and a message on “Walking on Water” from the Rev. B. J. Beu at 10 a.m. Sunday.

All are invited to bring beach blankets, beach chairs and picnic supplies for a day at Cleo Street beach. Parking is free at the nearby church parking lot (behind Ralph’s at Cleo and Glenneyre), and many will meet there at 9:45 a.m. to walk to the beach.

After the worship celebration, everyone is invited to bring your own picnic lunch and enjoy an afternoon of laughter, swimming, relaxing and celebrating the end of summer.

Rosh Hashanah for children

Chabad Jewish Center will celebrate Rosh Hashanah with a hands on event open to all children in the community at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Diverse activities and crafts include baking a Challah to take home; shofar blowing; apple dipping, story-telling; and making a New Year’s card for a soldier in Israel. Cost is $7 per person.
