Street construction, paving set to begin

From newly constructed streets to repaved ones, Newport Beach will begin its latest face-lift Monday with a slew of new projects expected to start.

The city has budgeted 90 days for crews to widen San Miguel Drive between MacArthur Boulevard and the beginning of Avocado Avenue, according to the city’s site. Workers will add a third left turn lane onto northbound MacArthur from eastbound San Miguel, among other changes.

The second phase of Lido Isle’s pavement rehabilitation will begin too. With workers initially doing concrete improvements from Via Antibes to Via Koron before repaving the streets.

In mid-September, RJ Noble Company will begin reconstruct Dover Drive east of the channel between Westcliff Drive and Irvine Avenue, with improvements also coming to the Mariners Mile business area. RJ Noble Company has contracted with the city for the $450,000 project.

Working hours on all the projects is limited to between 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Businesses and residents will be notified before traffic and parking constrictions take effect in their area.
