MADD honors CMPD for DUI arrests

Mothers Against Drunk Driving recognized seven Costa Mesa police officers for each making 100 drunken driving arrests or more in 2012, police announced Friday.

The Costa Mesa officers represented a third of the 21 officers who received a Century Award for 100 or more DUI arrests countywide at a ceremony Thursday at the Richard Nixon library in Yorba Linda, Costa Mesa police said.

The officers awarded were: Erik Rosado with 104 arrests, Crystal Rodriguez with 106 arrests, Tony Yannizzi with 110 arrests, Darren Wood with 113 arrests, Jeff Horn with 140 arrests, Oscar Reyes with 113 arrests and Kha Bao with 206 arrests, police said. In total, the awarded officers made 892 drunken and impaired driving arrests.

Bao was one of two officers to receive a Double Century Award for 200 or more arrests, Costa Mesa police announced.
