Azteca, Pappas reach new deal
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
TV network Azteca America said it struck a new contract with Visalia, Calif.-based Pappas Telecasting Co. that will keep Azteca’s Spanish-language programming on KAZA-TV Channel 54 in Los Angeles for five more years.
The L.A. station is key to the U.S. operations of TVAzteca, Mexico’s second-largest broadcaster. L.A. has more Latinos than any other U.S. media market.
Azteca has been leasing Channel 54 for four years. A year ago, relations between the two frayed when Pappas said it would sell the station.
