The federal government shutdown has rippled across the U.S. economy and affected many aspects of Americans’ daily lives: Half a million government employees have been furloughed, contractors have idled workers and national parks have been closed. Which states, though, have been hit the hardest? WalletHub, a personal finance firm, compiled a list of the 10 most affected states. WalletHub looked at the number of federal workers per capita, federal contract dollars per capita and other factors. For the purpose of this list, WalletHub included the District of Columbia.
