Facebook CEO’s bride wore dress by L.A. designer at wedding

At her wedding to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg on Saturday, Priscilla Chan wore a white gown overlaid with lace. On Monday, Los Angeles designer Claire Pettibone took to her blog to announce she had designed the dress.

In a very excited post, Pettibone said her husband spotted a wedding photo of the couple and immediately recognized it was one of her designs.

“My husband Guy is checking the day’s news on his phone while I am about to drift off … ‘HONEY! Mark Zuckerberg … the Facebook guy,’ ” Pettibone wrote. “ ‘He got married today, and the bride … the bride … the bride …’ ” Yeah? WHAT?!! “ ‘She’s wearing your gown, look!’ ”

Pettibone said after researching sales records at bridal boutiques carrying her line, she eventually figured out that Chan snapped up the gown in Denver under the alias “Pricilla Taun.”

“It was all kind of suspicious, she had an assistant handle everything and didn’t use her real name,” Pettibone wrote.

The 28-year-old Zuckerberg married his longtime girlfriend a day after taking his company public and becoming a billionaire. In typical fashion, he posted the news to his Facebook Timeline on Saturday evening, adding a life event reading “Married Priscilla Chan.”

Based on a photo he posted, Zuckerberg opted to forgo his standard hoodie and went with a more traditional jacket and tie (no word yet on which label he chose, although suit designers the world over are probably praying to hit the publicity jackpot).

The couple lured their guests to the wedding, held in the backyard of Zuckerberg’s Palo Alto home, under the pretense of celebrating Chan’s recent graduation from medical school at UC San Francisco, according to the Associated Press.

Pettibone’s publicist told the AP that Chan’s dress retails for $4,700.

Hopefully the designer didn’t get paid in Facebook stock. Shares of the company, which debuted at $38, tumbled 8.9% to $31 in trading Tuesday.
