Professional baseball player James Loney is ready to play ball for his home in the Poway area of San Diego County, listing the acre-plus property for sale at $2.495 million.

Reached by a curving drive, the Greg Agee-designed two-story was completed in 2003 and has four bedrooms and five bathrooms in more than 6,000 square feet of space.

Interior details of note include contemporary hues, lavish chandeliers and light fixtures, thick molding and wainscoting throughout. In the chef’s kitchen, ebony cabinetry provides a visual contrast to slab marble countertops and stainless steel appliances.

Formal living and dining rooms, a great room with a fireplace and a library are among the other common areas. An oversized master suite resides on the first floor and has a custom closet, a soaking tub and another fireplace.

Outdoors, the grounds center on a 45-foot swimming pool with a raised spa and a waterfall feature. Tall palms and native trees surround the landscaped setting. There’s also a pair of two-car garages.

Loney bought the house three years ago for $1.75 million, records show.

Terrence Griffin of Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty holds the listing.

The 32-year-old Loney is no stranger to the Southland, having played for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2006-2012. He is batting .282 with four home runs in 42 games for the New York Mets this season.
