Green Day’s Mike Dirnt ditches his surf-inspired ‘shack’ in Montecito
Mike Dirnt, bassist for the band Green Day, has sold his super-cool beach house in Montecito for $3.85 million. The buyer is film producer and Disney scion Tim Disney, records show.
The narrow house is in a gated enclave and sits along the sand at Miramar Beach. The three-story home has an arched top, glass doors and balconies on each floor. Retractable stairs on the top floor lead to an ocean-view lookout. Perfect for checking the surf.
The 1,186 square feet of surf-inspired, ship-like interiors feature teak and Brazilian hardwood floors, teak cabinetry, two kitchens, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Plus there’s plenty of board storage.
Dirnt, 45, is a founding member of Green Day and a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Among the rock group’s hits are “American Idiot,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and “Basket Case.”
He bought the house in 2014 for $3.35 million.
Disney in 2000 co-founded the documentary and feature film production company Uncommon Productions. He is a great-nephew of Walt Disney and son of Roy E. Disney.
Cathy Titus of Coldwell Banker Property Shoppe and Nicklas Svensson of Compass were the listing agents. Janet Caminite of Sotheby’s International Realty represented the buyer.
