LG expands Nexus 4 lineup with white version

Share

LG is rolling out a white version of the Nexus 4, the popular smartphone it launched late last year in partnership with Google.

Hoping to build on the success of the black version of the Nexus 4, which was released in November and sold out multiple times from Google’s online store, LG announced the new color option Monday morning.

“Nexus 4 White delivers the same Google experience to consumers in a stylish and attractive color option,” said Jong-seok Park, chief executive of LG Mobile Communications Co.

The Nexus 4 is the latest smartphone in Google’s line of flagship mobile devices. Typically, Nexus devices get the latest versions of Google’s mobile software before other Android smartphones do. Google has worked with multiple companies to manufacture its Nexus smartphones and tablets.

Aside from a different color for its back cover, the white Nexus 4 appears to have the same specs as the original black version -- a 4.7-inch, 720p HD display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and the latest version of Google’s Android operating system.

The white Nexus 4 will launch Wednesday in Hong Kong and will roll out to more markets over the next several weeks. LG did not say when it will come to the U.S. or how much it will cost.
