Vegas’ most decadent desserts

Share

Sometimes, a slice of cake just won’t cut it. And in Vegas — home to the biggest, the most expensive, and, yes, the sweetest desserts — it doesn’t have to. Whether you like your chocolate sprinkled with 24K gold flakes or a binge-worthy treasure chest full of decadent goodies, you’ll find it here. We bring you some of the best, the most outrageous and the seriously fattening.

Combine two of the most popular Vegas activities — gambling and overindulging — in Rick’s Tasting Game at rm seafood in Mandalay Bay. Sample 16 flavors of ice creams and sorbets served blind — from vanilla to blueberry buttermilk, mango salsa, honey mustard and coconut cream pie — then try to match the correct porcelain cup to its corresponding flavor. Get all of them right, and it’s on the house (rumor has it that’s never happened). Otherwise, fork (or spoon) over $18.

Craving that s’mores flavor but without all the nature and icky smoke? The new Some More S’mores at N9NE Steakhouse in Palms Casino Resort brings the classic American treat indoors and up a couple of (hundred) notches. Grab your skewer and choose from homemade strawberry, orange Grand Marnier and amaretto hazelnut flavored marshmallows, roast one over the hibachi-style open flame, and sandwich it between white and dark chocolate ganache-covered graham crackers. Yum. ($12 for two)

How can you not love a dessert that comes in a huge edible treasure chest? Especially when that chest is made of chocolate, painted with edible gold and filled with cake, ice cream, fried Oreos, berries and cookies and topped with whipped cream, sauces and sprinkles? The Treasure Chest at Caesar’s Palace’s Serendipity3 is perfect for a big celebration (or a bad breakup). ($88)

Blow your mind with La Framboise, a white chocolate sphere filled with fresh raspberries, yuzu sorbet and mascarpone mousse at L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon at the MGM Grand. Watch in awe as your server pours a warm raspberry and yuzu coulis over the sphere, which then opens up like a blooming flower. No wonder Joel Robuchon has three Michelin stars, five Forbes stars and five AAA diamonds. ($15)

And the grand finale, the Guinness World Record Holder for the Most Expensive Dessert: the Golden Opulence Sundae at Serendipity3 in Caesar’s Palace — for $1,000 and with 48 hours advance notice (to fly in all the rare and expensive ingredients), you can be one of the few to claim the experience. Dig into three scoops of Tahitian vanilla ice cream infused with Madagascar vanilla beans, exotic fruits from South America and rare Venezuelan chocolates, topped with 24K gold leaf, candied fruits and chocolate truffles from Paris, passion fruit infused caviar (yes, fish), and gold dragées. It’s served in a Baccarat Harcour goblet from Italy with an 18K gold-plated spoon – both of which are yours to keep.
