'Levitated Mass,' LACMA's big rock

In March 2012, a big rock made the big trek from a quarry in Riverside County to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The 340-ton boulder became the centerpiece of Michael Heizer's environmental sculpture "Levitated Mass," which opened to the public in June of that year, and was later the subject of a documentary by Doug Pray, which premiered at the 2013 Los Angeles Film Festival. Below is The Times' coverage of LACMA's big rock star.
