UCLA Film & Television Archive’s “Out of the Ether: Radio Mysteries and Thrillers on Screen,” a retrospective featuring films based on popular radio shows of the ‘30s and ‘40s, continues Sunday evening at the Billy Wilder Theater with two low-budget flicks inspired by “Inner Sanctum Mystery.” The 1941-52 anthology series featured mystery, terror and suspense stories. Lon Chaney Jr. stars in both films — 1943’s “Calling Dr. Death,” in which he plays a neurologist who comes to after a blackout only to discover his wife has been killed, and 1945’s “The Frozen Ghost,” which finds Chaney as a remorseful stage mentalist.
