Looks as if Clay Aiken is going from aspiring politician to aspiring political adviser, modeling his advice on the concept of tough love.

The “American Idol” runner-up who ran unsuccessfully for a House of Representatives seat in North Carolina in 2014 has some advice for Hillary Clinton, who isn’t getting his vote on Super Tuesday 3.

“Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m ready for Hillary,” the 37-year-old said, starting out gently in a Monday essay for the Huffington Post. “I like Secretary Clinton. I anticipate her selection [as] the Democrat nominee, she will be a formidable candidate in the general election, and I believe she’ll make a very effective president. I think she’s more qualified than anyone who has run for president in decades, and I agree with her on most issues.”

That said, he’s voting for Bernie Sanders.

Clinton, you see, can “bore him to tears” and doesn’t “stir” him, though she is “pretty damn good at not lying.”

Sanders -- pardon us, the “grumpy old uncle who isn’t worried that his hair is messy or that he’s not wearing the right clothes” -- from Vermont “speaks to [people’s] hopes and dreams, while Hillary speaks to their heads,” he said. And Clinton should lose the teleprompter.

“I appreciate Sec. Clinton’s discipline,” he wrote. “But man does it bore me to tears in a campaign ...,” he writes. “And when Secretary Clinton tells us what’s sensible and what the baby steps are, not only does it not stir me, it makes me worried that she’s not even going to reach for the brass rings when they are in sight.”

He wants her to “learn from the Bern,” because this is the year of the “anti-politician,” and the former Secretary of State is exactly the opposite.

Sanders, Aiken writes, “is perhaps the most real and relatable candidate since the first Clinton. And unlike Bill, Bernie doesn’t play political games.”

Zing.

But that’s all mild compared to something he said last Saturday.

In a tweet calling out Clinton for her AIDS gaffe at Nancy Reagan’s funeral and her declaration that Sanders wasn’t around to support her HillaryCare effort in the early ‘90s, Aiken said, “Im not trying to be funny. Has anyone checked @HillaryClinton for dementia.”

Man, if that’s how the singer shows he likes someone, we’d hate to get on his bad side.
