‘Furious 7’: Can you distinguish the film and famous writers?

Share

The new movie “Furious 7’ is‎ being touted for an assortment of virtues — thrilling action, bro-ish banter and even an unexpectedly sentimental sendoff. Less commonly praised: the film’s writing.

But that doesn’t mean the movie doesn’t have its moments of Wildean ‎eloquence. In fact, unlike most pulp franchises, there’s often a lyrical quality to the “Furious” dialogue — a philosophical undercurrent, you could say — particularly for Vin Diesel’s truth-declaring Dom Toretto character. After all, as Diesel himself reminded in a recent interview, “Furious” will “probably win Best Picture at the Oscars, unless the Oscars don’t want to be relevant ever.”

With that prediction in mind, we’ve set up nine quotes from “Furious 7” and paired each with a line from a famous writer. See if you can tell which is which. Answer key below (an ain’t here and a verb there have been changed because well, we don’t want to make this too easy).
