Video: ‘Hunger Games: Mockingjay’ final trailer: Katniss sends a message

With floods, fires and widespread panic, things are getting downright apocalyptic in the final trailer for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1,” the opening salvo of the two-part finale to the blockbuster franchise.

Set to hit theaters Nov. 21, “Mockingjay — Part 1” once again stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, the two-time survivor of a televised battle to the death — as depicted in 2012’s “The Hunger Games” and last year’s sequel, “Catching Fire” — who has reluctantly become a revolutionary figure in the dystopia known as Panem.

“Catching Fire” director Francis Lawrence is helming both “Mockingjay” movies, which will wrap up the big-screen adaptation of the bestselling young adult book trilogy by Suzanne Collins.

With a mix of new and previously seen footage, the one-minute “Mockingjay” video glimpses death and destruction on a massive scale and finds the autocratic President Snow (Donald Sutherland) issuing a warning to Katniss.

“Miss Everdeen, prepare to pay the ultimate price,” he says in an ominous, Big Brother-like broadcast.

But Katniss, defiant as always, has her own message for Snow. She roars, “If we burn, you burn with us!”

Given the dark, gritty tone, the trailer also seems to be sending a message to fans: The concluding “Hunger Games” movies aren’t playing around.
