7. Donald 'Red' Grant( MGM )
Appearances: Robert Shaw played Red Grant, above right, in the 1963 film "From Russia With Love."
Honcho or henchman? Henchman. Grant works for SPECTRE, the terrorist organization run by Bond archvillain Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Dastardly distinction: Though his SPECTRE cohort Rosa Klebb (Lotte Lenya), above left, and her poison-tipped shoe are perhaps better remembered, the intensely trained Grant is a far greater threat to Bond. Grant outwits Bond, covering his tracks so it appears his targets killed each other, and impersonating a British agent. Grant is also stronger than Bond, physically overcoming 007 on the Orient Express. In the end, Bond only escapes Grant by tricking him into opening a tear gas booby-trapped suitcase. |
