The nominees are “The Green Prince,” about Hassan Yousef and his Israeli handler; “Life Itself,” a portrait of the late Pulitzer-Prize-winning critic Ebert; “Merchants of Doubt,” a look at modern-day spin doctors and media manipulators; “Particle Fever,” an account of the search for the Higgs boson at CERN; and “Virunga,” a chronicle of day-to-day life for the conservationists trying to protect Virunga National Park in Congo.

Along with the documentary category, the PGA has announced nominees for TV series/specials and digital series.
