Oh, what a year it was.
Economic woes wreaked havoc with arts organizations large (Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles Opera) and small (Actors' Gang). People came into our lives (Gustavo Dudamel, Susan Boyle) and people departed (Julius Shulman). There were controversies (Krystian Zimerman, OCMA painting sales) and reasons to celebrate (Museum of Contemporary Art's turnaround, Lynn Nottage wins the Pulitzer). So as 2009 winds down, take a walk with us through the year that was. |
