Disturbia

Everybody knew "Disturbia" was a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's suspense classic "Rear Window," but apparently no one told the Sheldon Abend Revocable Trust, which controls the rights to "It Had to Be Murder," the Cornell Woolrich short story that "Rear Window" was originally based on.

The Trust has filed suit against DreamWorks Pictures, Universal Pictures and Steven Spielberg over the film's alleged copyright infringement.

But "Disturbia" isn't the only remake that didn't exactly sell itself as a remake. Lots of movies have used their predecessors as direct, even blatant inspiration.
