Barry Levinson to direct Jennifer Lopez in NBC FBI drama

Oscar-winning director Barry Levinson has signed on to direct and executive produce the pilot for “Shades of Blue,” a NBC series that will feature Jennifer Lopez.

The actress-singer and her production company Nuyorican Productions will also be an executive producer of the project along with her “American Idol” colleague Ryan Seacrest and his Ryan Seacrest Productions.

“Shades of Blue will feature Lopez and Hallee McCord, a single mother and detective who is recruited to work undercover for the FBI’s anti-corruption task force. The pilot was written by Adi Hasak (“From Paris With Love”).

Production is scheduled to begin next summer in New York for the 13-episode series.
