Surf and skate art silent auction rolls into Santa Monica on Aug. 28

Share

The fourth annual Surf & Skate Silent Auction benefiting the Venice Family Clinic is set to take place on Aug. 28 at the Robert Berman Gallery in Santa Monica.

In a nod to SoCal’s contributions to surf and skate culture, the silent auction will include one-of-a-kind surfboards and skate decks designed by an impressive list of artists, celebrities and professional athletes. Among those donating their skills: photographer Pierre Auroux (who shot the new Haim album artwork), Alejandro Gehry, Tony Hawk, Ed Moses, Skip Engblom and Robert Berman.

Sponsors of this year’s fundraiser include Volcom, Active, Aviator Nation, Bloomingdale’s, Exhale Spa and Rudy’s Barbershop and the event is set to include live music (thanks to New Beat Fund) and a roundup of food trucks.

According to organizers, the event is aiming to raise $40,000 in funding for the 44-year-old Venice Family Clinic, which will in turn be used to provide primary healthcare for some 24,000 people on L.A.’s Westside.

Tickets, which cost $15, can be purchased online ahead of time at theveniceartwalk.org or at the door. You can also surf the Web to that same address for a complete -- and quite impressive list -- of artists contributing to the 2014 event.

Fourth Annual Surf & Skate Art Silent Auction, Aug. 28 from 6:30 to 9 p.m., Robert Berman Gallery at Bergamot Station, 2525 Michigan Ave., Santa Monica.
