Save and see some green
Self-guided green building tours include Warren Wagner’s design for the Beitcher residence
As home shows go, AltBuild is different in many ways, not the least of which is the price of admission. It’s free. Workshops and panel discussions will cover sustainable design, including landscaping, solar power and environmentally friendly remodeling. More than 150 exhibitors will showcase new products. The event opens to the trade April 25 and to the public April 26; it’s presented at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium by the city of Santa Monica, which also is hosting self-guided green building tours on April 27. Among the stops: architect Warren Wagner’s design for the Beitcher residence, shown at right and featured in the Home section a year ago. Fair warning: The exposition and tours are free, but parking at the Santa Monica Civic ($8) is not. 1855 Main St., (310) 390-2930, www.altbuildexpo.com.
