Standing desks: Designs to stay on your feet
Research suggesting that prolonged periods of sitting are bad for our health continues to roll in, most recently from the Sax Institute in Australia, which found that people who sat for more than 11 hours a day had a 40% higher risk of dying in the next three years than people who sat for less than four hours a day. Could that explain the growing interest in adjustable-height work stations, often called standing desks? Whether you're looking to appease your back or perhaps burn some calories while you work, the latest stand-up desks may have you on your feet.
