Handsome Coffee's wood tile( Nina Hans / August 3, 2013 )
For Handsome Coffee Roasters' new downtown L.A. cafe, the design team from WoodSmithe crafted subway tiles out of aged maple. Each piece was milled and glued to the drywall -- no grout -- creating an arresting effect. An old-fashioned mustache, a pipe and other imagery that are part of Handsome's graphic identity were laser-etched onto some of the tiles and placed randomly on the wall. Full story on WoodSmithe's design.
