Knoll’s sleek new showroom opens in West Hollywood

Share

Everything old feels new again — especially at the new Knoll showroom in West Hollywood, where classic midcentury furnishings by Eero Saarinen, Mies van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer share the floor with of-the-moment pieces by David Adjaye, Mark Krusin and David Rockwell.

Designed with Yves Vidal’s York Castle in Tangier, Morocco, in mind, L.A.-based architects Johnston Marklee have transformed the former Steinway Piano Gallery into a modern showroom with Moorish arches; gold mirrors; large-scale, brass-framed windows; and floating acoustic panels from FilzFelt.

The 4,000-square-foot showroom is geared toward residential customers, and Knoll design director Benjamin Pardo said he hopes it will prompt customers to take advantage of the 80-year-old brand’s many custom options.

“Los Angeles interior designers set the benchmark for modern with a special passion for stunning materials and finishes,” Pardo said. “Our L.A. shop experience is designed to deliver their bold vision by offering unsurpassed customization of furniture forms that complement architectural space.”

Look for Barcelona chairs and womb chairs in unexpected textiles (white linen, purple tweed), as well as new marbles and metallic finishes, including rose gold. The showroom is not cash and carry; if you see something you like, you can expect it to arrive in about six to eight weeks.
