A celebration of all things Midcentury Modern in Palm Springs

The 10th annual Modernism Week returns to Palm Springs with more than 180 events celebrating Midcentury architecture and design, including home tours, films, lectures, double-decker bus architecture tours, the Modernism Show & Sale and walking and bike tours. Although many events are sold out, there are still plenty to choose from during the 11-day event, running Feb. 12 through Feb. 22:

Palm Springs Modernism Show & Sale. More than 80 dealers from around the world exhibit furniture and decorative and fine arts from the 20th century, with a special emphasis on Midcentury Modern. Feb. 13-16. Palm Springs Convention Center, 277 N. Avenida Caballeros, Palm Springs. $20; includes show catalog and repeat entry.

CAMP (Community and Meeting Place). A new outdoor designer lounge features drop-in programs including design talks, films, demonstrations, DJ sessions, live bands, martini mixers and special events. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily; five-day pass: $20, 10-day pass: $30, 555 N. Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs.

Vintage trailer show. One-of-a-kind restored vintage trailers are parked at the Hilton Hotel, 400 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, Palm Springs. Feb. 21 and 22. $15.

Neighborhood walking tours. Explore architecturally significant neighborhoods, including the Movie Colony, where Frank Sinatra lived; the Tennis Club; and Old Las Palmas. Feb. 12-22. $35.

Double-decker bus architecture tours. See the renowned Neutra Kaufmann Desert House, the Wexler steel houses and the homes of Sinatra, Elvis Presley and others from the top of a double-decker bus. Feb. 13-22. $45-$85.

Frey House tours. A 45-minute docent-led tour of the residence of Modernist architect Albert Frey. A van shuttles participants from the Palm Springs Art Museum’s box office to the Frey House II. A reception is included with the last tour of the day. Feb. 16-20. $55 tour; $120 tour and reception.

Christopher Kennedy showcase. Designers Michael Berman, Trip Haenisch, Mark Cutler, Grace Home, Tabitha Evans, Linda Allen, Bobby Berk and others update the rooms of the Midcentury Modernism Week show house in the Indian Canyons neighborhood of Palm Springs. Feb. 12-22. $35. Location provided after ticket purchase.

Midnight Modern. A one-day exhibition of Australian Tom Blachford’s photographs of Midcentury Modern homes in the moonlight will be installed in the Menrad Residence. Feb. 20. $35. The address will be released after ticket purchase.

Modern garden tour. A self-driven tour focuses on drought-tolerant and desert-friendly gardens. 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 18, with check-in at West Chino Drive at Belardo Road. A cocktail reception will be held afterward from 4:30 to 6 p.m. with landscape designer Judy Kameon at the Parker Hotel. Ticket also provides entry to Kameon’s lecture, “Gardens Are for Living: Design Inspiration for Outdoor Spaces,” at 11:30 a.m. at the Annenberg Theater, Palm Springs Art Museum, 101 N. Museum Way, Palm Springs.
