Former Wrigley family home among stops on Pasadena Heritage tour
The Italian Revival mansion that was home to the Wrigley family of chewing gum fame, and today is headquarters of the Tournament of Roses, is one of four houses on view Sunday in this year’s Pasadena Heritage spring home tour.
The Tournament House, completed in 1914, has richly paneled rooms, inlaid marble floors and ornate molded plaster ceilings in its 18,500 square feet.
The heritage tour also visits the 1927 Beach House, a newly designated Pasadena landmark. The French Norman-style house was owned by Lansing and Katherine Beach, who met in France during World War I and had the house built as a reminder of their courtship.
Also included on the tour is the 1887 Bissell House, a three-story Victorian that is a South Pasadena landmark site and has a 1940s elevator. The fourth home featured is the 1902 Silver Queen House, which was redesigned as a Tudor mansion in 1922.
Docents will be on hand to share information at each of the homes on the self-guided tour, which runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets may be purchased for $40 at www.pasadenaheritage.org until 5 p.m. Saturday, or for $45 from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Pasadena Heritage office at 651 S. St. John Ave., Pasadena.
