Mingora, Pakistan

A health worker gives a polio vaccination to a child Thursday in Mingora, where Pakistani forces have been engaged in an operation against Taliban militants. Several polio cases have been reported across the country in recent months, mostly in the northwest part of the country where religious clerics and pro-Taliban individuals try to convince residents that the U.S.-manufactured polio drops are designed to sterilize Pakistanis and reduce the Muslim population.
