Stop us if you’ve heard this one: A guy known for starring in man-child comedies, another guy known for directing man-child comedies and a third guy who plays a man-child on TV decide to make a movie together. Comedy ensues.

That is, Seth Rogen is set to star in a comedy directed by Adam McKay (“Anchorman,” “Step Brothers”) and written by Ben Schwartz (Jean-Ralphio on TV’s “Parks and Recreation”), who will also co-star, the film’s producers announced Thursday.

Neither a title nor plot details have been revealed for the movie, though Rogen, McKay and Schwartz all share a proclivity for wacky humor centered on characters who are equal parts lovable, clueless and profane.

Ever the cut-ups, Rogen and McKay -- who are also producing with Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Will Ferrell and Kevin Messick -- injected some humor into the otherwise staid announcement.

“Evan and Seth have been doing amazing things and we’re so excited to work with them. Ben, not so much,” McKay said in a statement. “Most of my problems with him are personal ones, but I have to give it up. … He did come up with a great idea.”

Rogen added: “Every 2,000 years, the planets of our galaxy align in a perfect line that funnels the cosmic energies of the universe to flow into one perfect comedic collaboration. The time is now. This is that project. Nothing will ever be the same.”

Schwartz, who has a supporting role in the family dramedy “This Is Where I Leave You” (opening Friday), has been making forays into writing. He sold pitches for “No Heart’s Club” and “Would You Rather” to Universal and has been hired by Paramount to reboot “Soapdish.”

Rogen will next be seen on screen in the North Korea-themed assassination comedy “The Interview,” opening Christmas Day, and McKay’s upcoming projects include the financial drama “The Big Short” and a reboot of “Manimal.”
