Patrick J. McDonnell, Bureau Chief

Patrick J. McDonnell covers the Middle East for the Los Angeles Times, focusing on Syria and Iran. Before moving to Beirut, he covered the uprising against former Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi. He was previously the Times' bureau chief in Buenos Aires and Baghdad and has also covered immigration issues and the U.S.-Mexico border. He is a native of the Bronx, a graduate of Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and was a 1999-2000 Nieman fellow at Harvard University.
