Kushti is a style of mud-clay wrestling that dates to the time when Mughal emperors held sway over a vast fertile plateau in western India. In Kolhapur, a prosperous agricultural city, boys as young as 8 still come to train in the clay — a mixture of dirt, yogurt, clarified butter and turmeric powder.
