Throwback Thursday: Vintage villa in Los Feliz has a deep talent pool in its history

Share

A villa in Los Feliz that has a long history of celebrity owners and tenants is on the market at $2.795 million.

Actresses Olivia Wilde and Natalie Portman, the Jonas Brothers’ Joe Jonas and Academy-Award-winning puppeteer Brian Henson are among notable owners and tenants to have lived in the house.

Wilde took a loss on the place three years ago when she sold to the current seller for $2,190,950. She bought in 2011 for $2.295 million.

The Spanish Colonial Revival villa, built in 1929, also changed hands in 2005 for $2.55 million. Henson, the son of “Muppets” creator Jim Henson, parted with the 3,284-square-foot home in 2003 for $1.629 million.

Portman and singer-actor Jonas were renters.

The two-story house, which is set behind a wall, is full of classic character details with a courtyard entry, a rotunda foyer, original Malibu tile, stained-glass windows, archways, built-in niches and alcoves and beamed ceilings. The milk-delivery door, a small cabinet built into an exterior wall, remains. (Yes, people once had fresh milk brought to their doorsteps.)

French doors, a screening room with an original bar and patio access, a library/study, four bedrooms, three full bathrooms and a powder room are among the living space. A balcony sits off the master suite.

The lush grounds include a waterfall spa, terraced gardens and a gazebo. Olive trees and bougainvillea are among the plantings. Views take in the downtown L.A. skyline and surrounding canyons.

Wilde, 32, is on the current series “Vinyl.”

Ryan Sarkissian of Compass is the listing agent.
