When we photographed “Blender Girl” author Tess Masters, she was up for a bit of fun, as you can see by some of these behind-the-scenes images from our photo shoot.

When not covered in pureed kale, Masters developed an iPhone and iPad app her smoothie making on the go. It’s perfect for when you find yourself at the farmers market wondering, “The pears look good. What kind of smoothie could I make with these?” (Francine Orr / Los Angeles Times)
