Readers React: Jerry Brown must enforce California’s environmental laws

Share

To the editor: I am floored. Article after article in The Times and other news outlets in the state keep exposing ways that the oil industry is cutting corners and putting our health and our water — particularly in the Central Valley — at risk. (“Hundreds of illicit oil wastewater pits found in Kern County,” Feb. 26)

The urgency for our governor to act has never been clearer. How much longer can he keep his eyes shut? Jerry Brown is a man of action, principle and reason. But dumping carcinogenic chemicals into potential drinking water makes no sense.

Demanding that the oil industry follow the law is the first step and Brown has failed to do even that.
