Los Angeles Times Family Fund Holiday Campaign

The Holiday Campaign supports established literacy programs run by nonprofit organizations for low-income adults, school children, and families who are at risk of illiteracy or reading at below grade levels, or who have limited English proficiency. These programs must demonstrate measurable improvements in reading levels. Eligible programs include:

  • After-school programs operated by nonprofit organizations for school-aged students who read below grade levels. Priority is given to programs that measure the reading gains of children using evidence-based testing tools.

  • Family literacy programs train, support and promote parents as first teachers of their children and include Adult Basic Education (ABE) for parents reading below the 9th grade level and/or English as a Second Language (ESL) support for parents with limited English proficiency.

  • Advocacy and training programs building the capacity of literacy programs, or creating systemic change in the field.

  • Book purchases are supported only as part of an established program.

Help our youth build better futures and reach their full potential by donating to the Los Angeles Times Family Fund Holiday Campaign. The McCormick Foundation will match all gifts at fifty cents on the dollar, and along with the Los Angeles Times, will pay all campaign expenses, so one hundred percent of your gift, plus the match, is granted to nonprofit organizations providing support to our children.

You can make your gift online by visiting latimes.com/donate or by sending a check to:
